THE Shopee, marketplace that connects consumers and sellers throughout Brazil, inaugurated a new distribution center in the fulfillment model in Rio Grande do Sul. Located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, the space is the first of the company in this format in the state and should reduce by up to 50% the lead time for orders in the South region, allowing same-day or next-day deliveries to consumers in cities such as Porto Alegre and Florianopolis.
The new unit has the capacity to store over 1 million items and must generate more than a thousand direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the strengthening of logistics infrastructure and regional economic development.
Fast delivery and stopover to local vendors
With the opening, Shopee doubles the number of distribution centers in the fulfillment model as early as early as 2026 compared to last year, starting to operate four units in Brazil. The space adds to the structures already in operation in Sao Paulo, Pernambuco and Goias, expanding the logistics capacity of the company and strengthening its presence in the South of the country.
For retailers, the fulfillment model simplifies operation by centralizing steps such as storage, separation and shipment of orders, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on growing their business.The format also contributes to increased competitiveness through logistics efficiency.
The operation is part of Shopee's strategy to accelerate deliveries and give more scale to Brazilian sellers.
Impact in the region
“With this inauguration, we will bring even more agility in deliveries to consumers in the South region while accelerating shipments of items from sellers from Rio Grande do Sul to all of Brazil.”, says Felipe Lima, Business Development and Fulfillment Operations Director at Shopee.
The operation on site will be multi-category, covering all types of products, including fashion, beauty and technology. The positive impact of the operation also includes the generation of more than one product thousand new jobs in the region. The state also has a distribution center in the cross-docking model, which, 12 Logistics hubs and more than 150 Shopee Agencies, commercial establishments that, in addition to their usual activities, function as withdrawal points, collection and reverse logistics Rio Grande do Sul is among the 10 states with the most active sellers in Shopee, ranking seventh.
Shopee's logistics structure
In all they already are 18 Distribution centers (14 in cross-docking model and 4 fulfillment) and more than 200 first and last mile hubs of Shopee in operation in Brazil.
