With its CEO based in Brazil, Zapping aims to reach 150,000 customers by the end of 2025

Zapping aChilean startup that owns a TV streaming platform, has gained a significant boost to accelerate its expansion plan within the Brazilian market. The CEO and co-founder of the brand, Gustavo Morandé, has just moved to São Paulo with the goal of strengthening operations in the country, which currently has 20,000 subscribers. By 2025, the company aims to reach 150,000 customers in Brazil. Including operations in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru, the platform currently has over 250,000 subscribers.

With this change, Morandé joins a team of 24 professionals who work directly in the Brazilian operation. “When we talk about Brazil, we are dealing with a culture and languages different from the rest of Latin America, in addition to a gigantic territorial extension. This results in technical and brand challenges that require special attention,” explains the CEO.

In addition to the executive's arrival, the expansion strategy in the national market also involves raising investments that, together, should total US$10 million. The first of these financial injections should be formalized this November, totaling US$2 million with the Broota platform, which uses the crowdfunding model to encourage startups and innovative companies in Latin America. The remainder will be raised from investment funds, family offices, and investors linked to the television industry.

According to the CEO, 60% of all funds raised will be allocated to strengthening the Brazilian operation. This amount will focus on marketing and growth initiatives, as well as consolidating the sales team, given that Zapping's technological infrastructure is already well-established in the country. "Brazil represents a special scenario in Latin America. With the agreements and contracts we have with major brands, I am confident that we can grow significantly throughout Brazil. By reaching a level close to what we have achieved in Chile, we can reach a subscriber base of millions," adds Morandé.

Another expansion initiative involves broadening the brand within the ISP market. Integrated with the main approved ERPs in the country, Zapping plans to expand its presence in the sector through partnerships with internet service providers. To this end, the platform relies on exclusivity with some of the leading broadcasters in the country and the world for the streaming market, in addition to its strong connectivity infrastructure, which guarantees its presence in all regions of the national territory, without requiring extra investments from its partner ISPs.

A TV without cables

Founded in 2017, Zapping offers a TV streaming service, eliminating the need for cables and antennas, requiring only an internet connection to function. With over 100 channels available in Brazil, the company is the only independent TV streaming platform with contracts to distribute the country's main broadcasters, including Grupo Globo, Simba Content (RecordTV, RedeTV! and SBT), Disney-ESPN, Band-Newco and Warner Bros. Discovery.

Officially launched in Brazil in 2023, the service can be accessed on various devices, such as Smart TVs, laptops, and smartphones. It's also worth mentioning that the operator offers subscribers several technological features, such as up to 7 days of replayTurbo Mode(which offers minimal streaming delay), and HEVCwhich allows for high-quality images while consuming less internet data.
