Formula E and Google Cloud announce multi-year Major Partnership.

Formula E and Google Cloud today announced a multi-year partnership agreement, with Google Cloud being named the Lead Artificial Intelligence Partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

At the heart of the partnership is the mission to demonstrate the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate a positive impact on all of Formula E's business operations — from the development and execution of races to the fan experience.

This multi-year agreement builds on the official partnership first formalized in January 2025. The significant elevation of Google Cloud to Prime Partner involves Formula E adopting even more technologies for its business, such as integrating Gemini models across its ecosystem to accelerate performance, deliver faster and more efficient operations, and showcase innovation in a global environment.

A partnership built on a solid technological foundation.
This stage of the partnership follows a collaborative foundation that includes Formula E's pioneering work in setting the indoor track speed record, as well as the pioneering "Mountain Recharge" project.

During this project, Formula E used Google's AI Studio and Gemini models to map the ideal route and identify ideal braking zones so that the GENBETA concept car could generate enough energy through regenerative braking while descending the Col hill in Europe. With these calculations, the car achieved enough range to complete a full lap of the Monaco Circuit.

The latest collaboration will also help change the fan experience worldwide. Formula E has already integrated a new “Strategy Agent” into live broadcasts, providing personalized insights, predictions, and explanations as races unfold. Millions of viewers have already benefited from access to a deeper understanding of race dynamics, strategy, and driver performance.

Facilitating business transformation and sustainability.
Beyond the racetracks, the partnership will enhance the operations of the World Championship: Formula E will use Google Workspace with Gemini to enable greater agility and efficiency throughout its organization. Meanwhile, advanced AI modeling in Formula E's back office and the creation of

“Digital twins” of races and events, allowing Formula E to simulate and optimize the construction of venues virtually, have the potential to deliver further reductions in the competition's carbon footprint.

This minimizes the need for site reconnaissance, as well as the transport of heavy equipment, providing an optimized championship operation while maintaining peak performance.

Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, stated:
“Our expanded partnership with Google Cloud is a real game-changer for Formula E and motorsport as a whole. We are already pushing the boundaries of technology in sport, and this major partnership confirms our vision.”

"The integration of Google Cloud's AI capabilities will open a new dimension for real-time performance optimization, as well as strategic decision-making, both for the championship and for our global broadcast audience."

"This collaboration will redefine how fans experience our races and set a new benchmark for the integration of technology in sports worldwide."

Tara Brady, President for EMEA at Google Cloud, added:
“Formula E is a hub of innovation, where milliseconds can determine success. This expanded partnership is a testament to the power of AI and data analytics from Google Cloud, and shows how our technology can offer a competitive advantage in the most demanding scenarios.”

Formula E returns with the Miami E-Prix.
Following São Paulo and Mexico City, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship continues with the third round, the Miami E-Prix, on the weekend of January 30 and 31, 2026, at the Autodrome Miami International, located at Hard Rock Stadium.
