Visa, a global leader in digital payments, announced the launch of Visa Agentic Ready in Brazil, a global program created to prepare the payments ecosystem for the next phase of agentic commerce. The initiative already has the initial participation of Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Dock, Santander, and XP.
The program is based on Visa Intelligent Commerce, Visa's framework that enables trusted, AI-powered shopping experiences at scale.
In this first phase, Visa Agentic Ready is focused on preparing issuers, offering a structured path for partners to test and validate agent-initiated transactions in controlled production environments, in collaboration with Visa and selected merchants.
Through the program, participating issuers gain hands-on experience in how agent commerce platforms can securely initiate and complete transactions on behalf of consumers, while maintaining the levels of trust, control, and protection that characterize the Visa network.
“As artificial intelligence agents increasingly influence how people shop, payments need to keep pace with this evolution,” says Catalina Tobar, Head of Growth Products and Partnerships at Visa for Latin America and the Caribbean. “Visa Agentic Ready will help Brazilian issuers prepare for agent-initiated payments, securely and scalably, supported by an already trusted infrastructure.”
Developed for Brazil, based on an already established infrastructure.
Brazil stands out as a favorable environment for testing and collaboration, with high adoption of tokenization, passkeys, and advanced authentication—capabilities already widely established in Visa's global network.
Visa tokens have already reduced fraud by 70% and increased approval rates by 9%. With over 70% of e-commerce already tokenized, the company is working to expand this adoption and support a new generation of secure, AI-powered consumer experiences.
Visa Agentic Ready is enabled by Visa's layer of trust, which integrates tokens, identity, risk management, and controls to allow secure agent-initiated payments across different channels and contexts.
This approach allows issuers to bring familiar protections to new AI experiences, using tokenization and biometric authentication to ensure that each transaction is linked to a real person, with consent and control at every stage.
From preparation to full scale
Scaling up agent commerce requires coordination among different participants in the payments ecosystem. Visa already has several clients integrated into the program, and continued expansion is expected.
Through controlled testing in real-world environments with selected merchants, participants can validate how agent-initiated payments work in practice, gaining confidence as these solutions evolve from concept to everyday application.
This initiative reinforces Visa's vision of smarter, more programmable commerce, where trusted credentials and network infrastructure enable payments to respond securely and flexibly to consumer intent, context, and preferences.
As the purchasing journey becomes more automated, Visa is working to ensure that agents can act seamlessly on behalf of consumers, keeping them in control at all times.
The first issuers and processors participating in Visa Agentic Ready in Brazil include Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Dock, Santander, and XP — all Brazilian companies — with new partners expected as the program evolves.
“Banco do Brasil’s participation in the first agent transaction reinforces our commitment to responsible innovation and the evolution of the payments ecosystem. We are attentive to the transformations driven by artificial intelligence and are working to ensure that these new experiences happen safely and reliably for our customers,” says Pedro Bramont, Director of Payment Solutions and Services at Banco do Brasil.
“Bradesco is preparing for agency commerce, as we understand that this will be the future of transactions, with smarter decisions and increasingly fluid payments,” says Guilherme Jorge de Oliveira, Group Product Manager at Bradesco.
“At Dock, we are proud to support the Visa Agentic Ready program as the ecosystem prepares for this new phase of agentic commerce. With increasingly intelligent and integrated transactions, a reliable infrastructure is essential to enable secure and scalable agent-initiated payments, ensuring that these solutions advance with consistency and confidence,” says Henrique Casagrande, CEO of Dock SaaS.
“The evolution of commerce driven by artificial intelligence represents a significant transformation in how consumers interact with payments. At Santander, we see the advancement of agents as an opportunity to offer simpler, safer, and more personalized experiences, keeping the customer at the center of decisions. Participating in Visa Agentic Ready reinforces our commitment to testing and expanding innovations that combine technology, trust, and control,” says Gustavo Santos, Director of Cards and Everyday Banking at Santander Brazil.
“The evolution of payments involves intelligent automation, enabling more autonomous, fluid, and secure journeys for millions of customers. Being part of Visa Agentic Ready represents an important step towards transforming how people interact with payments and shopping experiences. This initiative reinforces XP's commitment to excellence in customer service,” says Ciro Moreira, Head of Cards at XP Inc.
Agentic Ready joins recent launches in Europe and Asia-Pacific, as well as advancements in North America and the Middle East, contributing to making AI-powered commerce a global reality.
