5.0 Out of 5 stars Inspiring! The book "Alibaba & The E-Commerce Giant" written by Duncan Clark, tells the story of this great corporate empire, and its iconic leader Jack Ma. Duncan, who has lived in Beijing since 1994, has worked with Alibaba in the early years and closely followed much of the developments of its history.
Jack Ma had a humble origin. In his childhood he did everything to learn English and practice, with tourists who visited his city. He later became an English teacher, but never stopped thinking about undertaking. Thanks to an invitation from a trip abroad, he was able to see how many opportunities there were to create in his country.
After the sale of a first venture, Jack set out for e-commerce, creating Alibaba, connecting suppliers and companies. But it did not stop there.Came Taobao, Alipay (now Ant Grouo) and a multitude of other businesses.
Jack Ma struggles to meet the inefficiencies of a gigantic population that has gradually migrated to technology and opened up to the world. But not everything is a bed of roses. Undertaking in a government that seeks to maintain control in all sectors of the economy is not easy and Jack has already faced some challenges.
It is difficult to put here everything that this great book tells. But one thing I follow: Jack Ma deals with a business of gigantic proportions, going beyond very famous Western businessman. It is worth knowing his story! Very inspiring!

4.0 Out of 5 stars Speed in growth and lots of twistingA twisty and beautifully narrated story (some translation errors) about the Alibaba empire and its tentacles in various businesses in a controversial country.
Jack is the opposite of the “founder stereotype and Silicon Valley CEO “ which makes the story more compelling.
