Experience-driven strategy: the new competitive model of digital retail

E-commerce is operating under a scenario of intense competition, greater digital maturity, and increasingly discerning consumers. With the continuous growth of online shopping and the consolidation of new consumption habits, the focus of companies has shifted from simply expanding sales to including operational efficiency, consistent experience, and long-term customer relationships. In this context, technology, logistics, and customer service cease to operate in isolation and become strategic pillars of the value proposition.

The evolution of the sector shows that winning in the digital environment requires more precise decisions regarding price, delivery, personalization, and after-sales service. Understanding consumer behavior, structuring efficient logistics operations, and integrating channels has become essential for conversion, loyalty, and sustainable growth. Below are some of the main factors that have shaped the dynamics of e-commerce and the relationship between brands and their customers.

  1. Consumer preferences and behavior:

Brazilian online consumers are becoming increasingly sensitive to price and shipping costs: according to the Purchase Intention Survey – Black Friday 2025, conducted by Tray, Bling, Octadesk, and Vindi (units of LWSA), 48% of respondents reported abandoning a purchase due to expensive shipping. On the other hand, 53% said they were willing to wait longer if shipping was free. This demonstrates that, in 2026, offering competitive shipping and clear terms and conditions is a basic requirement for customer conversion.

  1. Fast delivery and logistics as a key differentiator:

The pressure for faster delivery is intensifying: according to a Future Shopper survey by VML, 57% of Brazilians expect delivery within 24 hours, a clear indicator of urgency and expectation for efficiency. Furthermore, the most recent data shows growth in order volume in the country: e-commerce generated R$ 100.5 billion in the first half of 2025 alone, with strong expansion of the buyer base. By 2026, those who guarantee fast shipping, real-time tracking, and reliable delivery times will gain a competitive advantage.

  1. Personalization, technology, and integrated channels:

The expansion of e-commerce attracts more diverse consumers with different profiles and expectations, making personalization an important differentiator. Increased digitalization and the growth of sales through mobile devices reinforce the need for integration between channels: websites, apps, marketplaces, and social networks. Therefore, I believe that omnichannel strategies and a seamless experience across these points will be essential to increase conversion and customer loyalty.

  1. After-sales service, clarity, and trust as part of the value proposition:

Logistics and after-sales service are no longer just operational costs; they are reaffirming themselves as cornerstones of the customer experience. Stores that offer transparent tracking, a clear return policy, and reliable delivery are more likely to win trust and loyalty—especially in a context of more cautious and demanding consumers.

Therefore, the future of e-commerce will not be defined solely by price or discounts, but by who can deliver relevance, convenience, and consistency at every point in the customer journey. The combination of efficient logistics, transparent communication, technology, and channel integration will determine who comes out on top. For brands that understand and respond to these demands, 2026 will offer significant opportunities for growth and customer loyalty.
