Visa launches “Agentic Ready” program to boost agentic trade in Brazil

Visa, the global leader in digital payments, has announced the launch of Visa Agentic Ready in Brazil, a global program created to prepare the payments ecosystem for the next phase of agentic commerce. The initiative already has the initial participation of Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Dock, Santander and XP.

The program builds on Visa Intelligent Commerce, the Visa framework that enables trusted, large-scale artificial intelligence-driven shopping experiences.

In this first phase, Visa Agentic Ready is focused on preparing issuers, providing a structured path for partners to test and validate agent-initiated transactions in controlled production environments, in collaboration with Visa and select merchants.

Through the program, participating issuers gain hands-on experience on how agentic commerce platforms can securely initiate and complete transactions on behalf of consumers while maintaining the levels of trust, control, and protection that characterize the Visa network.

“As artificial intelligence agents increasingly influence how people shop, payments need to keep pace with this evolution, says Catalina Tobar, Head of Growth Products and Partnerships at Visa for Latin America and the Caribbean. ”O Visa Agentic Ready will help Brazilian issuers prepare for agent-initiated payments, safely and at scale, backed by an already trusted infrastructure“

Developed for Brazil, based on an already consolidated infrastructure

Brazil stands out as a conducive environment for testing and collaboration, with high adoption of tokenization, passkeys and advanced authentication, capabilities already widely established in the Visa global network.

Visa tokens have already reduced fraud in 70% and increased approval rates by 9%. With more than 70% of e-commerce already tokenized, the company is working to expand this adoption and sustain a new generation of secure, artificial intelligence-driven consumer experiences.

Visa Agentic Ready is powered by the Visa trust layer, which integrates tokens, identity, risk management and controls to enable agent-initiated payments securely across different channels and contexts.

This approach allows issuers to bring known protections to new AI experiences, using tokenization and biometric authentication to ensure that each transaction is tied to a real person, with consent and control at every step.

Of preparation on a full scale

Bringing agentic commerce to scale requires coordination between different participants in the payments ecosystem.Visa already has several customers integrated into the program, and the expectation is for continuous expansion.

Through controlled testing in real-world environments, with selected merchants, participants are able to validate how agent-initiated payments work in practice, gaining confidence as these solutions evolve from concept to application on a day-to-day basis.

This initiative reinforces Visa's vision of smarter, more programmable commerce, where trusted credentials and network infrastructure enable payments to respond securely and flexibly to consumer intent, context and preferences.

As the buying journey becomes more automated, Visa works to ensure agents can act fluidly on behalf of consumers, keeping them in control at all times.

The first issuers and processors participating in Visa Agentic Ready in Brazil include Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Dock, Santander and XP & all Brazilians & ID with new partners planned as the program evolves.

“Banco do Brasil's participation in the first agentic transaction reinforces our commitment to responsible innovation and the evolution of the payments ecosystem. We are attentive to the transformations driven by artificial intelligence and working to ensure that these new experiences happen safely and confidently for” customers, says Pedro Bramont, Director of Payment Solutions and Services at Banco do Brasil.

“O Bradesco is preparing for agentic trade, as we understand that this will be the future of transactions, with smarter decisions and increasingly fluid payments”, says Guilherme Jorge de Oliveira, Group Product Manager at Bradesco.
