IFood, a Brazilian technology company, started the expansion of the new version of the iOS application for the delivery of the platform in Rio Grande do Sul. In about 30 days after the release, the platform registered growth of 16% in the number of new registered deliverymen.
The novelty is part of a new wave of updates announced by the company for the application used by the deliverymen. In addition to the arrival to iOS, the changes include tools aimed at organizing the routine, monitoring earnings, viewing opportunities and planning deliveries within the app.
The application now has a functionality that allows the deliveryman to track their own financial goals and the progress of deliveries in real time, bringing more visibility on the routine and supporting the weekly planning. The so-called Target Screen, now available to all registered deliverymen, organizes this information in a simple and accessible way within the app.
IFood has also expanded access to Available Routes, a feature that can now be used by couriers in more than 2 thousand cities where the company operates. The functionality gathers orders available in an open list, allowing greater autonomy and flexibility in choosing routes and organizing deliveries.
Another update announced by the company is the expansion of the Advancement tool. From now on, all deliverymen will be able to anticipate daily the amounts received for deliveries made, in amounts of up to R$ 400 per day and without charging fees. Before, the feature had a limit of use of up to 4 times per month for part of the deliverymen. The app also gained a new screen in carousel format to display promotions simultaneously. The functionality already adds more than 300 thousand accesses.
The importance of Rio Grande do Sul in the national delivery market
According to iFood, the choice of Rio Grande do Sul to start the expansion of the iOS version is linked to the strategic relevance of the state for the operation of the platform and the objective of expanding access to the application on different devices.
According to a study by the Institute of Economic Research Foundation (Fipe), the iFood ecosystem represented 0.64% of the national GDP in 2024. In Rio Grande do Sul, the impact was equivalent to 0.46% of the state GDP, with the generation of approximately 49 thousand direct and indirect jobs.
“O Rio Grande do Sul has strategic relevance within the national delivery ecosystem and has been registering consistent growth in recent years, so it was chosen to start the expansion of the version for iOS. The accession to the new version in the first days reinforces the strength of the local market and the potential for income generation in the region. Our goal is to continue investing in technology and improvements that support the routine of deliverymen and, at the same time, generate better and better experiences for retailers and consumers, with innovation applied end-to-end in the” operation, says Jamilson Batista, Director of Engineering and Excellence in AI at iFood.
