The Brazilian publishing industry is experiencing one of its best moments. According to data from NielsenIQ BookScan, a global leader in monitoring the publishing market, the sector sold 16.4 million books in the first quarter of 2026 — 2.2 million more units than in the same period of the previous year, a growth of 16.2%, generating almost R$ 893 million in the quarter.
It is in this context that Amazon announces the 12th edition of Book Friday, its largest annual event dedicated to books in Brazil. From May 11th to 18th, more than 58,000 titles will have discounts of up to 70%, including physical books, eBooks, and titles from independent authors published via Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), with fast delivery to 100% of Brazilian municipalities.
“Book Friday is the moment when millions of readers find their next great read with discounts of up to 70% and fast delivery throughout Brazil. More than 58,000 titles—both print and digital—are available to make reading more accessible and convenient than ever,” says Ricardo Perez, retail director of Amazon Brazil.
The pre-sale, exclusive to Amazon Prime members, takes place from May 11th to 13th, with discounts of up to 50% on Kindle Unlimited books for R$ 2.99 for three months. Starting at 10 am on May 14th, Book Friday opens to all customers with discounts of up to 70% on books and eBooks, exclusive coupons in the app for up to 50% off, plus the offer of Kindle Unlimited for two months.
More than just a promotional event, Book Friday reflects Amazon's ongoing commitment to the Brazilian literary segment. In 2026, the number of authors self-publishing independently through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) grew by 28% compared to 2025 — expanding the diversity of voices and connecting new writers with readers across the country.
Amazon also invests in discovering talent through the Kindle Literature Prize, which will celebrate its 11th edition in 2026, the Kindle Black Voices Prize, aimed at Black writers, and the Kindle Young Adult Literature Prize, dedicated to works with young adult themes. For those who prefer listening, Audible offers a growing library of audiobooks and podcasts.
