Latam Retail Show celebrates a decade of innovation and charts the future of retail and consumption

The Latam Retail Show, sponsored by IBM, concluded its 10th edition, solidifying its position as the leading B2B event for retail, consumer goods, and services in Latin America. Held from September 16th to 18th at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, the congress brought together approximately 3,800 visitors, over 250 national and international speakers, 100 hours of content, and featured the presentation of 17 original research studies addressing strategic themes such as innovation, digital transformation, customer experience, operational efficiency, and artificial intelligence.

With the theme "Retail Metafusion: 10 Years Ahead," the event promoted discussions on the evolution of retail, consumer behavior, artificial intelligence, operational efficiency, omnichannel, and technological innovation, bringing together panels that addressed topics ranging from digital transformation and operational performance to the future of foodservice, where the use of technology was highlighted as a growth engine for the sector.

In addition to the main plenary session, the congress featured three Arenas with segmented programs and various panels addressing topics in the luxury, construction materials market, technology, management, and foodservice sectors, broadening discussions and enabling a more focused learning experience.

The congress also presented 17 unpublished research studies, covering topics ranging from consumer behavior and trends to innovation and operational performance. Highlights included the “Brazilian Strip Mall Census”, “Retail and Services – From the Economic Scenario to Company Results”, “WGSN Shopper Priorities: Shopping Priorities in the Coming Years”, “The Convenience Revolution”, and “Construcheck Macrotrends – Gouvêa Inteligência”

The Latam Retail Show featured a unique panel discussion broadcast simultaneously between São Paulo and Paris, connecting the leading retail and consumer content platform in Latin America with the first edition of NRF Europe. The international event brought together Marcos Gouvêa, CEO of Gouvêa Ecosystem, and Fábio Adegas Faccio, CEO of Lojas Renner, with Selvane Mohandas Du Menil, executive director of the International Association of Department Stores (IADS), who brought a European perspective from France on the impacts of the changes and adjustments required by the new global landscape.

The program also included nine free parallel events, including the 1st Latin American Strip Mall Meeting, the 1st Luxury Retail & Services Summit, the 5th edition of the IDV Forum – ESG in Retail and Consumption, the 3rd edition of the Retail Design Meeting (RDI Brazil), the 3rd Fashion Retail Arena, the 1st edition of the Retail CX Forum by SoluCX, the 1st E-commerce and Digital Leaders Forum (LED), the Foodservice Meeting, and the Matcon Forum. These spaces allowed for in-depth discussions on trends, innovation, sustainability, customer experience, digitalization, integration of value chains, and business expansion.

The congress concluded with the historic panel “10 Years of Latam + 10 Years Ahead: The Vision of the Future of 10 Great Leaders in Retail and Consumption,” led by Marcos Gouvea, which brought together executives such as Luiza Helena Trajano (Magalu), Belmiro Gomes (Assaí), Sergio Zimerman (Petz), Andre Farber (Riachuelo), Peter Furukawa (Lojas Quero-Quero), and Paula Andrade (Natura).

Other highlights included the Abilio Diniz Award – Leader Who Inspires Leaders, presented by Luiza Trajano (Magalu) to her son Fred Troiano, and the Retail Tech Awards – 10 Years Ahead, given to the startup Sinatra, which beat out 10 other companies for presenting innovative solutions capable of transforming the future of retail.
