Mercado Pago, the financial institution of the Mercado Libre Group, recovered R$ 139 million in customer debt in the last two months of 2025 through Limpa Nome, Serasa's debt renegotiation platform. This result stems from the expansion of the partnership between the companies and the evolution of the operational model, which moved from periodic database exchanges to direct integration via API, making the recovery strategy more scalable and efficient.
The change has significantly expanded the number of eligible debtors, reduced operational friction, and offered a clearer negotiation journey for the consumer. In practice, the new model has increased the reach of the strategy and improved the experience for those seeking to settle their financial debts with Mercado Pago.
The impact is evident in the year-on-year comparison: in the last two months of 2024, the recovery of overdue debts was R$ 64 million. A year later, the amount more than doubled, reaching R$ 139 million.
“This evolution of the partnership with Serasa marked an important advance in our credit recovery strategy. We saw that there was a 93% match between consumers who were already registered in the Serasa app. With this, we moved to an API integration that allowed us to scale, expand the eligible base, and offer a simpler negotiation journey aligned with each client's financial situation,” says Eric Uemura, Director of Credit Recovery at Mercado Pago.
In the last two months of 2025, the total value of agreements reached R$ 205 million, with more than 1 million customers renegotiating debts with Mercado Pago. Of this total, more than 860,000 consumers made the payment.
“The partnership with Mercado Pago demonstrates how the integration of data, technology, and digital channels can transform debt recovery at scale. The positive results obtained in the first phase of the partnership allowed us to evolve to an integrated model via API. With this, we were able to expand our reach, reduce friction, and offer a more efficient renegotiation experience, aligned with the real needs of the consumer,” says Samira Leite, Executive Business Manager at Serasa.
