Black Friday drives major purchases and boosts the automotive sector

Considered one of the most important dates for Brazilian commerce, Black Friday officially opens the shopping season for end-of-year celebrations. Searches for deals generate billions of reais in Brazil – in 2024, sales totaled R$4.27 billion, an increase of 8.4% compared to the previous year. In terms of units sold, the increase was 9.4%, according to a survey conducted by Neotrust Confi, a company specializing in intelligence solutions for online retail.

Some businesses take advantage of the period with more money injected into the economy and don't limit themselves to just one day of promotions, extending offers and promotions throughout the month of November. A change perceived by the market is that the date is no longer restricted to searches for deals on consumer goods, such as electronics, for example.

That's according to Leonardo Furtado, superintendent of Auto Shopping Internacional, an auto mall that brings together more than 25 vehicle dealerships in a single space. According to him, people are seeing opportunities for larger investments, such as buying cars. "This time of year has become strategic for sales, since people take advantage of their 13th-month salary and the Black Friday period to fulfill dreams. And replacing the family car is one of them," he states.

Leonardo also says that retailers take advantage of the period by offering deals throughout the month. “We won't limit ourselves to just the 28th, the day Black Friday falls this year. We have over 1,500 pre-owned vehicles with attractive prices and warranties. Customers can choose calmly and see what best suits their budget: payment in up to 60 installments, first payment in 2026, and the possibility of using their used vehicle as a trade-in,” he concludes.

In Brazil, sales are projected to increase by 16.5% in 2025 compared to 2024, according to a survey conducted by the consulting firm Gauge in partnership with the agency W3haus.
