Uber of Education: Startup earns R$ 3 million with pre-university mentoring and boosts admissions to medical school

According to the Edtech Report 2024, Brazil is a leader in the Latin American Edtech market, and since its founding, the startup AMentoria Educação has stood out as one of the most promising in the segment, attracting the attention of investors and accelerators.

The company, which started in 2019 with a group of in-person practice exams, reached R$ 3 million in revenue by June 2024, and expects even greater expansion in 2025, with projected increases in enrollments and a tripling of revenue.

AMentoria's accelerated growth began in 2020, when the corporation, already focused on online operations, earned R$ 100,000 with 300 students and only 10 mentors. From there, the climb was rapid: in 2021, without raising external investments, the startup jumped to 900 students, earning R$ 700,000. With a structure of 60 mentors, the customer base tripled and revenue multiplied sevenfold. The following year, AMentoria attracted R$ 175,000 in investments, closing 2022 with 1,300 enrollments and revenue of R$ 1.7 million.

Even with robust expansion, the 2023 strategy focused on consolidating internal processes, resulting in increased margin per student, with 1,600 enrollments and R$ 2.8 million in revenue. The team of mentors grew to 100, and the focus on personalized service and individual methodology remained a competitive advantage for the company.

A new model of education

With 25,000 hours of individual mentoring offered to over 5,000 students, AMentoria has revolutionized the way students prepare for university entrance exams. Inspired by the collaborative model of platforms like Uber, the edtech company uses the productive capacity of students admitted to medical school to guide and mentor those seeking admission.

Today, there are more than 120 mentors available to provide guidance.
“Our goal is to transform education, offering more efficient and personalized preparation for the challenges of university entrance exams. We believe that each student is unique and deserves a tailor-made study plan,” emphasizes Pedro Gesteira, CEO of AMentoria.

This approach has already generated significant results, such as at the Santa Luzia Diocesan College in Mossoró (RN), which saw the number of students admitted to medical school grow by 40% in 2023, after the implementation of the startup's mentoring system.

Preparation for climbing

Now, this year, the company is focusing on strengthening operations and preparing the ground for even greater expansion. With the revenue already generated, the expectation is that, by the end of 2024, revenue will reach R$ 5 million. In 2025, the goal is to enter a scaling phase, coinciding with the start of the enrollment cycle for the 2026 school year.
